Airlift capabilities
The KC-45 has the size and capacity to move an impressive number of passengers and equipment in multiple configurations, without giving up refueling capacity.
Troops
The KC-45 is capable of carrying more than 250 troops and their equipment. In a medical evacuation mission, the KC-45 cabin can be configured to carry up to 130 litters and the intensive care systems and medical staff necessary to treat the wounded.
Equipment
As many as 26 463L cargo pallets can be loaded onto the main deck of the KC-45, with six more in the lower deck cargo hold. Loading and unloading is facilitated by a large cargo door.
Deployment
The KC-45 can provide total support to a squadron deployment, moving its operational personnel and equipment while also performing refueling escort for the squadron’s aircraft. This speeds the squadron’s ability to deploy and ramp up to combat level – a key capability when force must be rapidly brought to bear.
